isn t it astounding how musikkrause manages to change direction? on one hand you can find albums from feindrehstar and ian simmonds, as well as a number of diverse features. maximum is the catchword. who can bring bona fide, raw, full-service techno for a deep seated mind fuck? berk offset of whom the technoiden world out there is no stranger, has the answer at the ready with a 2x funky, dada techno for culture-drunks and solar plexus-beatniks. the flowing lyricist rainer maria silke is known as the techno-activist part of two duo s. together with the japanese tanaka hideyuki he celebrates an abundant frizzle-fest ornately, bound with alex kork under the handle error as cannibal cooking club to a freaky loud industrial-techno with an experimental edge. added to that he is a manager of the label 9volt-musik which blithely ignores the trends but instead serves a challenging techno sound. the raveline supported, 22nd release from their catalog stromberk recently bagged a record of the month! for musikkrause berk offset mimes the dead doris with a filthy straight-lined techno avant garde for a life in the dance floor heavens. he is the charming psychiatrist with the melting grin and the right medicine in his frock, who muses from time to time over the effectiveness of shock therapy.

for this release kurbits is happy to announce a new artist for the label – laurentiu suciu – aka. faster. laurentiu has been around on the romanian scene for a couple of years and has earned himself a large number of fans throughout the country. under the name faster, laurentiu has already released a couple of remixes and tracks on various digital labels such as the digital divisions of air drop records and cray1 labworks. whereas his previous releases has been more of straight up house affairs, this release sees laurentiu going for the more minimal and hypnotic shades of dance music. on the a-side we have omego, a track with instant hypnotic qualities. the rolling bass line and the atmospheric pads make the track a perfect choice for those in between moments when you are about to take your set from one direction to another. on the flip we have rost, a rhythmic skeleton based around a simple groove and a little hint of melody. the track might not have the ingredients of a chart buster, but we can assure you that it has all the ingredients of what we call a perfect tool. we sincerely hope youll have as much pleasure with these tracks as we are. well be back soon with new and exciting rhythms. happy mixing!

for its latest transmission, t-bet records continues its trend of pairing up different acts for cross polinations of electronic sounds, showing the true diversity that can be unearthed within a seemingly simple 4/4 beat. this time around, florence-based trio the clover teams up with newcomer miris. the clover comprises electronic musicians antonio pecori and stefano meucci and live bass player andrea giachetti, offering a loose but polished, three- dimensional techfunk sound. the trip with us ep is their first effort for t-bet after several releases for marcel knopfs clap your hands label as well as tenax recordings, which is how they first encountered stefano miris, from his past work as the head audio engineer at club tenax.

>mr guy< is a lovely slice of lovers rock and somewhat overlooked when released in 1980 but it has become a firm favourite with us here at bristol archive. >pretty girl< finds roots singer joshua moses showing his softer side, it was something of a hit on the original release and makes a natural pairing with sharons tune.
both tracks were originally released as singles on bristol label shoc-wave records some thirty years ago and were given their first digital release with their well deserved inclusion on >the bristol reggae explosion 1978 ¹ 1983<. >mr guy< also made it onto the limited vinyl version of the album, but running time constraints meant there was no room for >pretty girl< something we a very pleased to rectify with this vinyl release.

quality reissue of the mega-rare blow up records release of the italo masterpiece pink footpath by loui$. originally released in 1985, this gem has become one of the most highly sought after italo disco tracks around. on the a side is magic dance which is good, but it’s the instrumental version of the track pink footpath that really gets the disco djs drooling. with its killer analogue b-line, dreamy synths and balearic guitar riffs, its easy to see why it became such an anthem at the early ibiza parties as well as a late night favourite in chicago and new york. highly recommended.

hailing from the second largest city in norway, terje bakke has currently been making waves withsome mystical, hypnotic and melodic deep house. this is a miracle. bergen, norway is far away from the european house scene, or actually: far away from any music scene except for pop music. however, being excluded from the usual hotspots in the europe is something mr. bakke turned to his advantage: the results are tracks that without any doubt is categorised as deep, maybe even minimal, but sounds idiosyncratic and uniquely his own.

keep up! records unveils brand new signing bestboygrip complete with his debut ep fonck. those with their ears to the ground will be aware that the germany-based bestboy is well-known within the drum n bass world under a different moniker. but this is the bestboy cutting loose for a minute and kicking out some modern disco jams with one foot in the past and the other in the future. this is the sound of an 80s boogie, synthesizer, library music and b-movie obsessive. fonck is the slow-paced opener with heavy-hitting synth drums but reflective keyboard narrative. one of keep up! recordsfavourite producers architeq provides a dubby, spacey remix sounding like something luke vibert might have included on his nuggets library compilations. on the flipside the pace quickens with the flexible bassline but tight groove of copyright. the ep closes with the house-tinged cross my mind, which builds on the strong melody-lead theme of the other tracks even further with the aid of catchy synth lead and vocal hooks. the fonck ep sits comfortably next to artists such as faze action, lcd soundsystem and ilija rudman. just the way keep up! likes its modern disco. bestboygrip is aiming to expand his sound even further, this time onto the stage with a full live band. keep an eye out for roland and his crack team of musicians visiting your town.

the highly anticipated squeaky lobster ep has been worth every second of the wait. in terms of sample / synth selection, song structure and sound quality, no expense has been spared. hi-fi synthetic drums intertwine with lo-fi sampled kicks & snares whilst heavy stretched out synth bass lines are topped with bollywood-esque string samples, 80s guitar bridges & plenty of other orchestral mayhem. the lush, thick melodic layers mount up into a frequently spine-tingling whole whilst the rhythm section, although outside the box, does by no means neglect the headnod factor. the incredible feat here is that although no 8 bars are quite the same as the next, a sense of unity is preserved within each genre-defying track, making it the stuff of epic journeys. you may start your listening experience in front of your turntable, staring at the record spinning, but you will end up somewhere quite different, squeaky lobster has made sure of that. as man from phone number 770021 would say: >this is $50.000. good luck.<

after two re-releases of conrad schnitzler classics, (zug & ballet statique) now m=minimal releases a completely new work from the pioneer of electronic music. conrad schnitzler is a sound explorer. for many years, he has been on expeditions, journeys through his collection of electronic synthesizers almost every day. sounds he liked has been conserved on tape and stored in his sound library. the result is a huge library of audio files, he calls them >solen<. >borngräber & struever< have got the chance to examine that library and started to con-struct new pieces out of the hidden gems. these are not remixes but new compositions. none of the sound combinations were thought or heard before. the 8 tracks form an album independent of any trend and therefore it becomes a real acoustic environment for everyone. the album was produced at studio.wannsee. to give the album more authenticity, the complete audio processing was done using analog equipment. they not only used many classics among the finest synthesizers and outboard equipment, but also custom built tube gear. the icing on the cake are the tubes used from the 60s, which bought christian borngräber on a trip through the atacama desert in a small radio repair business in the city of calama. thanks to the desert climate even the packaging of the tubes looked as new

ok … the sad truth is we have been searching for this dat close to 6 years since rabbit in the moons david christophere and san diego native sotero finished the project. both mixes were done around winter 95 / 96. despite excitement around the label at the time, eventually the tracks fell to the wayside under the age-old excuse of >figuring out what to do with them<. meanwhile, knowing a good thing when he heard it, three made a dat copy and cut some actetates to play out. they made their way around a good portion of the earth via himself, some friends and one west coast dj who boldly vowed to just put it out on his own --- off the slate --- if we didnt get our act together. fortunately he didnt, but neither did we because both david and three misplaced the dat copies and sotero never had one!

supported by tornado wallace (delusions of grandeur), pete herbert (reverso 68/dance disorder)... when jay shepheard launched retrofit in early 2010, deep house with a splash of disco was on the menu. six releases later and the quality of music hasnt faltered once. jays own work has always been the main focus on all five releases but for retrofit 6, rudys midnight machine, (who is in fact robin lee of faze action) takes to the stage alongside an appearance from shepheard (as ee_ef_ex) on remixing duties. >ecstatic love glow< kicks off the ep, diving head first into the disco and synth heavy realm that we expect from retrofit (and, for that matter, from mr lee), whose house outputs with faze action as far back as 97 speak for themselves. the intro of tip tapping hats and congas leads into a penetrating bass guitar, a riff that goes on to be cleverly mirrored by keyboards and later, by what sounds like a scratchy lakland guitar. wooden hats, sirens and a plethora of cosmic elements boogie their way around until the tracks dominant synth parades in and takes over the arrangement, striking a dramatic and smug pose at the close of each stab. the second track of >east side good living< sticks with its predecessors groove, cosmic sirens, electronic whistles and metallic drum taps yet again highlighting rudys modern disco sound

hamiltons debut single on ram records is simply massive. having already released two huge 12 inches on frequency and the immense >soundboy<, a track released as part of andy cs nightlife 5, it comes as no surprise that brainstorm and echoes have already conquered dance floors worldwide and is a firm favourite in the sets of andy c, chase & status, hype, bailey, sub focus and fresh to name but a few. brainstorm leads in gently with rolling percussion, building up the suspense until the winding bass and scattered drum beats kick in to create a smasher that all will want hear again and again.

silicone souls darkroom dubs label has pulled off quite a coup with their latest release. taking a retrospective look through the labels archive, the duo approached some of their favourite producers, asking them to rework and give their own take some of the music from previous releases... and boy are we in for a treat! the coup in question was the securing of the talents of a certain mr robag wruhme. currently enjoying the acclaim generated from his exquisite long player, >thora vukk< (pampa), wruhme has kindly turned his attention to remixing extrawelts >neuland< for darkroom dubs. the lead track from their 2010 >neuland< marked a key moment for the label, as silicone soul celebrated the signing of an act that they had admired for many years. robag provides not one, but two reworks of the stunning original, each as impressive and moving as the other. the second rework sees john selway turning filippo mancinelli & allen mays >the hills< on its head. the deepness of the 2009 original, is still in evidence as the atmospheric sounds sweep within selways wonderfully driving tech reconstruction.

neapolitan techno powerhouse unrilis delivers a brand new ep from gaetano parisio in the form of needing chords. up there with the likes of adam beyer, ben sims and marco carola as one of the premier exponents of european techno, parisios reputation is backed up by an enviable discography and touring schedule. needing chords, backed by a remix from another neapolitan legend in rino cerrone, is a heavy-set, muscular techno-workout which builds with unbridled intensity. cerrones remix is considerably more stripped but loses none of the originals power. moodier and with a sinister edge, its an interpretation which provides an exciting slant on the original. the skippy funk of fake stuff follows and does so with a playful urgency. threaded with a snaking white noise motif that ebbs and flows under staccato keys, its hugely hypnotic while not loosing its groove. finally, its the trippy synths of program meanings that close the ep. heavily layered the track constantly and fluidly shifts with filters revealing new combinations of layers throughout while a funk licked bassline and heavy drums do the rest. hope the usa tour was fun!

shortly after the idea of acting as a record label under the guidance of oliver schories, the first release is already upcoming. different artists from northern germany convinced with their qualities and they found their way on the >nordlichter ep<. mauro basso brings with his >calm water< a potential summer-hit, which should not be missing on any open air event in our opinion. friends of more bassy amusement should listen to the hamburg/bremen based duo apnØ with their >trøt<, a track which encourages even the coolest northern lights to get into action. on the flipside >meet me on the streets< brings some deeper sound onto your turntable, accompained by a video on youtube, the intention of bremen-based duo datastix becomes definitely clear. last but not least julie* from papenburg, who is spinning only vinyl for years, shows us with her >cheerful expression< again, how to make your legs perk up. our advice is: dont disappoint your mum and make your exercises enjoyable: do not forget your turnbeutel in your next set.

gutis name has been on everyones lips of late. his collaboration with dubshape -every cow has a bird- was championed by pretty much every house jock on the planet and his recent debut album on loco dices desolat received widespread acclaim. now hes teamed up with luca bacchetti - who has built up a solid reputation with releases on imprints on labels such as ovum recordings, wagon repair, supernature and be as one - for their first collaborative release. the esa nena quiere ep contains two sizzling slices of latin-flavoured loveliness, both of which are instilled with an appropriately warm blaze of summer sunshine. both extremely creative and massively complimentary of one another, this is a collaboration that looks likely to blossom in the future, but for now we caught up with them both to discuss the eps origins, their studio time together, and where exactly where the record is best enjoyed

summer release for apersonal music comes with the debut of james teej on the barcelona-based imprint. teej, a canadian fine style producer who has been gaining attention in the scene for his complex and personal productions, releasing on labels as rekids, my favorite robot, rebirth, and recently under the aka of the king arms on wolf+lamb. teej now amazes us once more with 2 high caliber bombs for the season, >fame< and >city celebrity<, long and elaborated disco-tech tracks that wont let down his fans nor the audience looking for strong and complex slowmo nudisco & tech-house music. completing the release with the remix from cisco cisco (labels usuals) to >fame< with a sound stronger and more aggressive than what we are used to the portuguese duo, but with out loosing their dreamy-disco characteristic sound

pink stallone has been labeled everything from house to disco to garage r&b, but this concept project can only truly be defined by unique personality. a collaboration between fresh-faced new jersey producer, daniele barbarosa, and seasoned newark vocalist joey washington, pink stallone tracks are often marked by a concoction of classic songwriting sensibility with curious yet tasteful new instrumental landscapes. dancing in time, the followup to their self-released sleazoid funk anthem the six, wanders off into a dreamy-house domain, marked especially by additional production efforts from vietcong discos eddie mars

it took a while but we finally got this great remix ep together from catz n dogz escape from zoo album. tanner ross flexes his e-funk biceps and shows us that just a little bit goes a long way with huge bass and sparse vox. this remix goes against the grain the right way, showing restraint and power at the same time. the main man of detroit, carl craig also delivers a sparse and beautiful mix, 1st giving us a lesson in how to properly tweak the space echo and then bringing it back with classic strings and subs. both mixes are getting major support from all across the globe from sebo k to troy pierce to ewan pearson to martyn to l-vis 1990 to james zabiela - overall probably the best feedback we had in a while on a record to be honest.. all great for our kids at the detroit youth foundation where the mothership label donates 100% of profits! also, special thanks to matt colton at air studios, london for donating a mastering session for free to cut this record and support our school.

the word genius is not a term we like to use loosely when speaking about our artists but giorgio sancristoforo aka tobor experiment fits the bill. a gifted musician, soft synth designer, found sound pioneer and he still finds time to make forward thinking disco pop for bearfunk as tobor experiment >disco experience<.
after a well received ep in 2008 we sent giorgio back to the studio with the remit to make an lp so special that it could open new doors for us. well he certainly delivered! opening with the sweet modern disco sounds of >postcards from a nervous breakdown< we then get the first taste of giorgios song writing prowess with >breathe< a rather intense little number.

did you ever hear about christian strobe? no? hardly surprising, cause its a brand new solo-project by christian schnall, one half of disco trash music (maximal electro) and spruce (dreamy shoegaze). the german guy is musically rooted in the 80ies and early 90ies and as christian strobe, he combines airy new wave pop, retro-futurism with a pinch of house. the original mix of >midnight call< is full of magic, desire and an airy atmosphere, but still a simple pop song. the nightdrive version is recommended for nightly rides with your ferrari testarossa through big city lights. the italo-disco-pop-masters from codebreaker gives the original a funky french taste and reknowned keenhouse conjured a good-feeling remix with lovley summer-piano-chords. midnight call? you could name it sunshine call! in a more and more digital environment, the warmth of the analog vhs-tape version gives you the relaxing mood you need. the placid >lonesome astronaut< completed the debut-ep and takes you to a cosmic trip though time and space. stay tuned for the upcoming full-length album called >heartworks< in autumn 2011.

sao paulos techno titan returns. gui boratto needs little introduction - after all he has played pretty much every corner of the globe, placing himself as one of the most in-demand producers and performers in dance music today. its summer and kompakts bomb for the season is about to explode. just in time for his extensive european tour throughout july. the drill embraces the classic kompakt shaffel but delivered in a chalice of class that only gui boratto is capable of drinking from. a roaring bass line that sways side to side in layers of euphoric harmony. bold – brazen. boratto. stems from hell is classic boratto. guitar-esque chording launches this depth charge that is just pure build. tension and release – you sense this track can almost breath on its own. the moments are near perfect in this swelling that reaches a fever pitch right when you think it would never come. there will be more from gui boratto in 2011....stay tuned.

our japanese dear friend hidenobu ito is definitely overwhelming and it seems almost comically out of place. from alien hydraulics to percussive steel fractals he allows to take shape within the realm of impossibility. so, what follows next on numbolic records is a stunning lesson in subtle buildup of sound design. theres a feeling of constant movement and shaky energy that means his music never quite stands still. highly resonant and rapidly-panning drum hits act like flickering fluorescent lights. the result is a heavily abstracted layering and perhaps our most sonically release to date. every sound, no matter how tiny, is endlessly tweaked and picked apart. the 12 inch ep is rounded off with 2 prickly re-interpretations. dualism turns up the fog with a super-deep captivating and yet lovingly version. while ditch comes up with a characteristic throbbing dirty techno rework. another 4 smashing tracks by hidenobu ito are added digitally as well as two bonus remixes. kai provides a dance floor-approved version and the hungarian newcomer as we said made a cartoon spaceship to the moon. big pulsating bass kicks will drive you in that particular head-space, but before accidentally killing someone in love, we suggest go get this record instead and start dance! be numbolic!

a1: talk to me - matthew kyle delivers on this one! a huge track, great vocals as always and a brilliant beat, coupled with keys and light percussion. top class!

yellorange must be considered one of the most prolific house music labels in history. founded in 1998 by the legendary tony humphries, the label closed its doors after a short run only in 2003 when strictly rhythm (who handled its distribution) collapsed. in those few years, the label put out nothing but quality music, with many - if not all - of these releases being considered a classic nowadays as you would imagine, there are lots of unreleased mixes to be discovered, and for years the fans have eagerly awaited the return of the label in hope some of these gems would see the light of the day. finally the wait is over and yellorange is back with >yellorange history - the kept it to ourselves mixes<, a collection of previously unreleased mixes by kerri chandler, paul simpson and david harness available on limited coloured vinyl. first come, first served!

the latest immerse cut sees the label tapping once again into the fertile waters of haunting, leftfield 4/4, showcasing the hitherto unknown talents of el kid. the eagle-eared out there may have picked up on the young echo radio show, which features sam kidel (to his folks) alongside west-country compatriots kahn, vessel and zhou showcasing their new tracks and mixes. for most though, this will be the first they hear of the bristol-born, brighton-based producer. on both tracks the synthetic sheen of detroit techno gets refigured into an almost downtempo kind of house music. the melody is king, whatever sonic texture it might manifest in, leaving you with ample layers to get engrossed in. that same quintessential yearning quality ensures that these first offerings from el kid fit perfectly into the immerse canon. it will shake the right kind of dancefloor, but it will also tug at the right kind of heart-strings as well.

party girl grows from a a collaboration between 2 artists coming from different fields in music. niconote brought her voice and indie-soul stylings to limos club production sound. the release is completed with hot remixes by dapayk, guido nemola and dachshund. this simply but very cute and intense spleen made party girl be here! enjoy!

exium presents the follow-up on the great album >roots of time<. >the unexpected< is an excellent take on the deeper side of techno, but dont be fooled the exquisite production makes it yet another stormer for the dancefloor. from the building energy on the 1st part with the lucious chords and wicked percussion to the dreamy sequence on the 3rd, another unforgetable piece of vinyl not to be missed!

a true master of the deeper arts, phonique has, since his first steps into the world of production back in the early 2000s, become synonymous with and eulogised for his beautifully cultured productions. labels such as simple, buzzin fly, souvenir and of course systematic have all played host to his music, but it s his work for steve bugs dessous imprint for which he is most renowned. first up is phoniques solo production, >2 my jungle< which sees him step into jacking tech-house territory. lovely open hi-hats are paired with the punch of the kick drum. a trumpet riff enters the fray, backed by the grooving throb of the bassline. its vocal samples are twisted and filtered throughout as phonique creates a wonderfully trippy summer anthem. on the flip he teams up with desolat badboy, guti. still riding high on the wave of support for his fantastic debut album >patio de juegos<, the argentinian producer phonique show just how much fun they can have in their electronic playground. beautifully deep and with a lush rhodes melody, >divertimento< entices us with its sultry summer vibes. a polar opposite, yet complete match to the a-side

moody melodic synth patterns, stripped back electronic percussion and haunting hypnotic vocals. may i present the latest masterpiece from reuben tobias: portraits ep. a finely balanced deep underground pop release that will no doubt hold the attention of such names as troxler and jamie jones. the structure, complex enough to hold interest but simple enough to maintain elegance, takes you on a journey through the mind of reuben tobias as you listen attentively to every word of the self expressive lyrics. the b side lead, marran, shares very much the similar characteristics as portraits. minus the lyrics, marran uses subtly layered electronic synths and the comforting sound of young children playing outside to suck you down into a place of complete concentration. your focus becomes stuck in fascination for the sounds guiding you through the duration of the track right to the last second. a brilliant ep. not one for the clubs but certainly one for the collection.

you might not be aware of this artist or lp… but thats all about to change. this is the holy grail of cosmic disco… that disco kids dont even know yet. released in 1978 on little known inter global records, this lp is one of the most in demand, expensive & undiscovered albums of this genre. just check discogs! not much is known about the group, where their from or what they went on to do, but that doesnt stop every track on this album being a bonafide killer. arguably the albums highlight is jamaica electric, but unlike most cosmic disco lps where there is just one main track, every outing on this lp is unique and of the highest quality. cosmic, mind bending disco at its finest… sounding so fresh it couldve been made by prins thomas or lindstrom this year.

fina has been soaking up the sunshine over the past few weeks procrastinating over the best time to release its next summer cut. with global warming rubbing everyone up the right way, we feel now is as good a time as any to drop fina 004. originally from south africa, esa mervin granger may now be more glasgow concrete towers than table top mountain but his grooves are pure house pedigree. from his releases under his mervin granger moniker to exclusive remixes for ooft! the cape town cat was a natural choice for a very >summer< shuffling three track jaunt.title track veloore is immediately recognisable from its soft analogue piano chords, amalgamated with a dreamy filtered vocal and a bass line which nods to the acidic side of deep house. on the remix is erefaan pearce, a fellow south african who pins soul to every production he lays his hands on. reworking vocals and bass lines into an infectious frenzy that is almost impossible to resist, erefaan draws that sunshine feeling from every angle. think las salinas and you are nearly there. completing the ep on the flipside is galaxy, a deep vocal number paying homage to all the lazy dogs. cosmic deep house aimed purely at the terrace. fina records 004: we present… esa

berkane sol present the vinyl debut of erra. erra comes bursting through your speakers with a riot of tuff drums and sweet melody – its like the sound of someone who has rinsed their console so much that its gone way beyond high scores and into a full on system meltdown. >stax< starts out with a dreamy intro which leads into the rudest of wake up calls – a proper peak-time jackin synth stab married to a smartly evolved bassline, all driven by concussive garage flavoured rhythms. >jookup< on the flip again demonstrates erras irresistible talent for blending blissful keys with hectic dancefloor moments, this time really bringing the sickly grime synths to the front, with some cute but disembodied vocals punctuating the action. the 12 inch follows up erras popular l2s digital release >cake music<, and neatly shows off this young producers rapid development. these tracks have been getting love from people such as: al tourettes (applepips), mary anne hobbs, brackles (rinse fm), n type (wheel and deal), dj flight (1 xtra), spamchop (wigflex), 2562 (tectonic), shortstuff (ramp), cardopusher (hyperdub), martyn (3024), martin kemp (blunted robots), elgato (hessle audio), selector dub u (hotflush), skipple (sub fm), west norwood cassette library (teal), king thing (fortified) ...

the second serving from schmorgasbord brings together two relatively disparate and unrelated artists, but who both share a uniquely twisted approach to making music. s-max has been doing his thing for some time, running legendary home all things bizarre in house and techno, boogizm, and releasing a special kind of groove on labels such as telegraph, 7th city and karloff. his original track, >ms. rosen dub<, swaggers and sways with the spirit of classic yorkshire bleeps and bass. the groove is house, but the spirit of adventure is most definitely techno. his remix of spatials >corti< takes a very different approach, taking a rolling, jungle-like approach to dubstep and nailing it to the groove with stabbing bass notes. spatial leapt onto the bass music radar late 2008 with his shadowy infrasonics imprint, and quickly snapped heads with his crisp, refined approach to 2-step rhythms. since then he’s done things on his own terms, only releasing for himself and mutating his sound over a series of 10 inches. >corti< perfectly demonstrates spatials unconventional tendencies, lurching and buckling around a perfectly honed splatter of beats, off-centre synths and delirious vocal snippets. meanwhile on his remix of s-max, spatial flips the script once again with a stomping, swung techno angle that hammers the original into an uptempo, fist-pumping banger.

released as a 2 x 12 inch with the full length 11 track cd album shrink-wrapped. the vinyl features 4 brand new remixess from the album.this album represents the peak so far of the lads technical skills, its carefully produced from start to finish. tracks are frequently tied together, and a lot of thought has gone into the flow of the album. this is one that can be listened too from beginning to end, as opposed to a collection of singles. however that doesnt mean that state of mind have forgotten about the 3am raver. almost all of the tracks have all been smashing it up world wide over the last 6 months in their own right. collaboration wise, the album features several of nzs most talented vocalists including shapeshifters p.digsss, thomas oliver, sacha vee, mc woody & pnc, as well as american singer 3pm. the only production collaborators are nymfo and dnme. several other collaborations were planned for the lp, but in the end were unable to fit. these will be released as bonus tracks.

special extended vinyl edition plus cd release ltd to 1000 copies! the cocoon compilation k, being the longplay flagship in the cocoon catalogue, adequately starts the second decade of the label with a musical imperative. but dont worry: even if the letter k has sometimes been misused as an indicator for the degree of hardness of some sonic noise in the past of the tech-house scene, >k< is definitely the deepest survey of contemporary electronic dance music that has ever seen the light of day on cocoon recordings!! please note: the full-length versions of all tracks are only available in the 6-vinyl edition !!!

hrdvsion may not be the first act we were actually checking out for an irr output but we are not irritated that we found it. with i can t exist our canadian friend successfully strikes the balance between deep housyness and accelerated departure. if you turn the piece of plastic around you find a more typical hrdvsion track celebrating the same magical atmosphere. last but definitely not least the b2 is a fusion-remix by ada that insists on being played in the sunshine.

support by richie hawtin, m.a.n.d.y., andreas henneberg, kombinat100 and many more. featuring deep atmospheres and altogether slightly more electronic rhythms, the second part of the catchpenny & cosmos series rounds this double release off by an even greater variety of sound. just like its name implies, the dark tower hotel is a wondrous and mysterious place. upon intricate double bass chords and trippy synthesizer riffs, female singing from times long gone mixes elegantly into the hypnotic arrangement like a melodic leitmotif. in his remix, mollono.bass lives up to the last four letters of his name and delivers a rolling groove. the jaeger gains experience with acid, at least during the second part of this title which distinguishes itself by a minimal character and enigmatic wind instrument sounds. last but not least there is morgiana , a laid-back song that does not aim the dance floor. its catchy gypsy vibe, created by lots of classical instruments, reflects the remarkable compositional talent of be svendsen in a very entertaining way.
